Gulf Coast Style

About Debbie

I love when I meet someone for the first time and they ask me where I’m from and I answer “Brooklyn”.  The reactions are hilarious!  No way could anyone with this accent be from Brooklyn.  Well, I am. Not Brooklyn, NY; Brooklyn, Mississippi  is where I grew up.  It’s about 65 miles north of the MS Gulf Coast–depending on which part of the coast you start traveling north from.

My husband, Chuck, and I live in Ocean Springs, MS.  We’ve been here for 25 years now.  We love this small town for its beauty but mostly because of the folks who live here.  Southern hospitality flows off these folks as natural as the water flows from the natural springs from which this town was named.

I’m so proud to live in a country where I can choose where I want to live and raise my family.  We didn’t have a choice on where we  grew up—-cause lord if we did I would never have chosen Brooklyn!

I love to share stories about my sisters and brother and our life together; and how we survived our childhood days.  I hope you all will enjoy reading these stories in my future entries.  Mind you, these will be true stories and will include some scary tales, funny stuff as well as some sad but true events from my younger days.

I’m very passionate about cooking and am excited and looking forward to sharing many recipes with you.

Thank you Lynda for inviting me to be a part of this blog.

Thanks to all of you for checking in to see what it’s about.  Please keep coming back!
