| Blender Dough | ||||||
| 2 | cups | warmer than warm water | ||||
| 1/2 | cup | oil | ||||
| 1/2 | cup | white Karo syrup | ||||
| 1 | egg | |||||
| 1 | TB | salt | ||||
| 3 | pkgs | yeast | ||||
| 12 | cups | flour | ||||
| In a large bowl, sprinkle 3 packages of yeast over 3 cups | ||||||
| warm water. Let sit. | ||||||
| Put in blender the following: | ||||||
| 2 | cups | warmer than warm water | ||||
| 1/2 | cup | oil | ||||
| 1/2 | cup | white Karo syrup | ||||
| 1 | egg | |||||
| 1 | TB | salt | ||||
| Mix and add to yeast and water. Add 12 cups of flour to the liquid. | ||||||
| You can use any type of flour. We like half whole wheat and half white. | ||||||
| Knead for about 10 minutes and then let rise | ||||||
| Punch down and make bread, rolls or cinnamon rolls. Bake @ 350* | ||||||
| for 30 minutes. | ||||||
| Makes 4 loaves of bread or 2 large pans of rolls. | ||||||

I like the idea of this recipe but in New Zealand we don’t have Karo syrup. What is it? Any ideas of a substitute?

Karo syrup is corn syrup here in the US. I think you could substitute cane syrup without any issue. You could also use honey in its place. It is just part of the rising agent to get the yeast to grow. Do you like the new entries in the log or do you prefer the old blog better? When I was a full time homemaker, I used to grind my own wheat to make these loaves. We could hardly wait for the loaves to cool enough before we wanted to slice them and spread them with jelly.
